Do we know what we are praying to or believing on?

To some, it may have been passed down from many generations that they worship what their ancestors worship. Perhaps it may have been a tradition within the family. In many of the ancestorial religions, some religions worshipped statues made of hands, some worshipped the natures, some worshipped stones, some worshipped the “energy”, etc. This just shows us how much human beings want to have a relationship with God, and they created something to at least acknowledged the presence of God in their life. Whether we like it or not, many humans knew in their Spirit that there is a higher power up there, whether they called it God or superpower or whatever. They knew in their Spirit there is something greater than them in this world. EVERY HUMAN, deep in their heart, knew it.

Look at what the bible says. Read from Acts 17:24 – 30.

They were not wrong that in the past, that was how their ancestors worship God. If that is how they worshipped God at that time, and they still see miracles and wonders, and so how can that be wronged?

Read Acts 17:29 – 31 – In the past, God overlooked such ignorance, but now He commands all people everywhere to repent. Why? v31 - Because He has set a day when He will judge the world with justice by the man He has appointed. He has given proof of this to everyone by raising Him from the dead (Christ Jesus). This simply means in the past, prior to Christ's death, God ignored whatever the ancestors are worshipping, BUT after Christ's death and resurrection, God has already PROVED to everyone (the whole world) that He will judge the world through Jesus Christ. God give Grace to those who sin. There is a period of time for men that continue to sin. Though He longs, that man will seek Him and reach out to Him (v27). God gauged the time or period man can continue to sin, as shown in Jeremiah 1:4 – 5, whereby there is time for sins to reach its full measure before He comes to judge them. In the New Testament, Galatians 1:15 – He knew we will sin even before we are born, but He is waiting for us to repent and respond to Him.

So, back to Acts 17:29 – 31. Yes, our ancestors may have worshipped all kinds of things. But that was prior to Christ's death and resurrection. Yes, at that time, God were ignorant of whatever they worshipped. But NOW, He has shown us through Christ who should we turn to for salvation and eternal. He hopes for us to repent from our old ways (aka ancestor’s traditions). He clearly told us in the bible that He now COMMANDS all people everywhere, regardless of their race, skin colour, or country, to repent (v31). Why all people? Because He is the Creator that made the world and everything in it (v29). He made one blood for all nations (Read Acts 17:26 KJV). He made it possible for humans all over the blood to be able to receive blood from humans irrespective of their colours, nations, or status, so long they are the same type. That’s why we have a blood bank, isn’t it? Hallelujah! Because there is only One Creator who made all this possible. Know who Our God is.

I always like hearing to Pastor Chris Oyakhilome teaching. Here is one of his teaching on "Receiving Rhema". I want to be used by God to reach to millions in this world with the Gospel, just like how God used Pastor Chris so mightily in this world. I truly believed that the Good News can change you and my life if you believe and work it out by faith. I hope this video will bless you as it has blessed me.

When people questions your doing . . .

Here's the context as to why I wrote this blog post:  People around me have been asking me about what I am doing now, and of course, I told them that I am currently pursuing my doctorate degree. Well, to be fair, this has been my answers to those around since 4 years ago. But you know, it is not easy to pursue a PhD degree, and it's a long commitment and journey towards the research you want to do. So, these people around me that questions me, they always gave me these replies "how long more to go?", "you are still doing your PhD?", "when will you complete your PhD?", "If I am in your shoe, I would have given up on PhD long ago, but it's okay, you haven't given up because your parent is rich and you can afford to live without pay for this long.", "Are you sure this is what God have called you into?" So, here are my thoughts. . . In the past, I used to be really sad and hurt to hear these comments especially from friends...
